Green Mountain House Hiker Hostel

Green Mountain House Hostel is located in Manchester, Vermont, just 5 miles west of the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail.  In 2008 we opened our home to long distance hikers giving them the opportunity to rest and resupply as they continue along Vermont’s wilderness corridor. Space is limited so call 3 or 4 days in advance to secure a spot.  Cell reception is good on most mountain summits in Vermont.    Phone: (330) 388-6478.

Hikers typically hitch into town from the VT 11/30 trailhead.  After visiting Manchester’s restaurants, grocery stores and outfitters, guests call us for a free shuttle to our home. Upon arriving, they are able to take advantage of our amenities:

• Sparkling new showers & bathtubs – towel, soap & shampoo provided
• Private room available (shared bath)
• Comfortable twin beds with clean linens, blanket & pillow
• Washer, dryer and detergent FREE for overnight guests
• High speed internet computer and Wi-Fi access
• Boot dryer so you can start your day in dry shoes
• TV in our guest lounge with a large assortment of DVD movies
• Fully equipped kitchen exclusively for guests
• Breakfast supplies provided FREE for guests to “cook their own”
• Outdoor grill and picnic table
• Ice packs for your aching knees !!
• Clothes line for drying tents and sleeping bags
• Piano and guitar for the “musically inclined”
• Shuttle to the Manchester Center PO for mail drops (Zip Code 05255)
• Parking for section hikers

$45 + lodging tax per person….private room extra

This includes a free shuttle to the AT/LT trailhead in the morning.

Hostel Rules

• For everyones enjoyment and safety we have a NO ALCOHOL policy
• Please respect “Quiet Hours” after 9 PM
• You are welcome to stay a second night if space is available.
• Mail drops accepted for guests with CONFIRMED reservations.
• We are dog friendly & have special accommodations for you and your dog.
