We aim to foster a deeper understanding of people, places, and cultures through travel for a more tolerant world. “Cross Trails” is a reference to the trail that runs below the cliff we sit atop, where four major long-distance hiking trails cross paths before diverging in different directions – the Appalachian Trail (AT), the C&O Canal, the American Discovery Trail (ADT), and the Potomac Heritage Trail (PHT).
Cross Trails Hostel opened in June of 2021 under the ownership of Potomac Area Hostels Inc. (PAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The property has operated as a youth hostel since the early 1970s and has accommodated thousands of travelers, hikers, and cyclists worldwide.
Harpers Ferry and the surrounding areas are jam-packed with things to do. Whether you’re looking for an adrenaline rush or a romantic dinner date, you have options. Towering cliffs and whitewater rafting are just down the road, but so are wineries, brunch, and history tours if that’s more your speed.
