We have been happily hosting hikers since 1990 . Check on our many services for thru- hikers, section hikers, and day hikers. Perfect location for several days of day-hiking or “slack-packing” This is a central spot for mail drops, visits from friends and family, and a homey stop to rest, recoup, and recharge.
If you are thru-hiking the A.T. northbound, you have hiked over 2000 miles when you reach Andover ME. Southbounders, this is your last place to enjoy Maine hospitality. Pine Ellis is a great spot for you to take a day off the trail, kick those boots off and give yourself a rest before you continue your hike.
We regularly pick up and drop off at the two closest trail heads of the A.T. (East B Hill and South Arm Rd) which are a mere 15 minutes away from our B&B, and we offer shuttle services to and from these other trail heads : Gorham (Rte #2), Grafton Notch (Rte #26), Rte #17, Rangeley (Rte #4).

The Catamount is very conveniently located on Route 7 in Bennington, just south of the intersection of Route 9 in a quiet neighborhood but only minutes from downtown. All of our rooms have outside entrances, dedicated parking, private bathrooms, air conditioning, individual thermostats for heating, satellite TV, WiFi, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, writing desk, telephone with free local calling and alarm clocks. As 2018 thru hikers, we know what hikers need. We invite you to stop in for a stay in our log cabin home. We, David and Danielle, (Texas and Stumbles) have transformed the lower level of our home into a place where hikers can relax and recharge. Spend time on one of our decks, get cozy on one of the couches in our common area, and sink into one of our memory foam beds at the end of the day, all linens provided. We’ll pick you up in “Big Blue” and take you home for a hot shower, laundry, resupply and dinner run, and send you on your way the next morning after eating a hiker sized hot breakfast. Nestled in Moody Hollow and sitting next to the headwaters of the Hiawassee River, these cabins offer a great getaway. Guests find a special solitude not found in other campgrounds. Although we have a limited number of sites they are all very spacious. With 20 campsites, 15 of which are on the river, it allows for a more private camping experience. Some campers have found it so desirable; they’ve stayed for 6 years! 10 minutes from Hiawassee and 15 Minutes from Helen, you’re close to a variety of restaurants, quaint shops, grocery stores, beautiful Lake Chatuge, 6 new movie theaters and Funworld for the kids. Campers enjoy being minutes from High Shoals Falls, the Appalachian Trail and Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia.

In 2025 the lodge will be open for lodging Wednesdays through Sundays.
The lodge provides overnight accommodations for all sorts of visitors from around the world; tourists, hikers, as well as families on a mid-week getaway with the kids. With a variety of private rooms, and one bunk room, the lodge can accommodate over 30 guests in a diversity of rooming arrangements.
Like the lodge, the rooms are small. Intimate private spaces, softly lit by amber lights, open into common rooms with broad hardwood floors, fieldstone fireplaces and dark paneled walls. Our rooms reflect an era of quiet comfort against a back-drop of rustic adventure. The splendidly designed Stickley furnishings, organic cotton sheets, blankets, and pillow cases together with a bottle of Saratoga mineral water on the bedside table will help refresh the body and soothe the spirit. The lodge does not have televisions.

Wood’s Hole Hostel is located on 100 acres of land, surrounded on three sides by the Jefferson National Forest and protected by 780 acres of privately owned land. Located in Southwest Virginia, an easy drive from both I-77 and I-81.
Built in 1880 by Stoney Holiday and purchased by Tillie & Roy Wood in 1942, the property has a long and fascinating history. Tillie & Roy opened a bunkhouse for hikers in 1986, and it has been operated by their granddaughter Neville since 2009.
Located at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, we are the ideal location for hikers and backpackers alike! We provide a quiet place for guests to relax, prepare, or rest before, during, and after the great outdoor adventures you have planned. The Appalachian Trail-er has space for ten and is located on the A.T. in beautiful Hot Springs, North Carolina. True to its name, the Trail-er is a 1,600+ square foot converted double wide that serves as a basecamp for all manner of BRHC trips, as well as a bunkhouse for hikers, backpackers, trail runners and paddlers. Reservations should be made in advance at 828-622-3319, as walk-ups are based on availability and the caretaker’s schedule. The Trail-er has a small retail counter with limited backpacking supplies and BRHC merch.Bookings include a clean bunk with linens, a hot shower, wifi, TV, kitchen access, and all the amenities Hot Springs has to offer. Gear and logistics are the two biggest hurdles that keep people from backpacking more often. With a selection of rental gear, shuttle services, and trip planning services, the Appalachian Trail-er offers a quick fix for both. Trip planning services include detailed trip itineraries, information about campsite locations, meal plans, etc.
We rent packs, tents, sleeping bags and pads, trekking poles, camp stoves, cookware, first aid kits, water filters, you name it. We also sell trail maps and have meal packages available (with advanced reservations). Just bring your clothes, toiletries, and personal items and you’re good to go!
To access the Appalachian Trail from the Trail-er… just walk out the front door! Or take a shuttle. Our seven passenger 4WD vehicle can take you anywhere you want to go within a two-hour radius, with the most popular trailheads being Max Patch (20 trail miles south), Davenport Gap (36 trail miles south, at the north end of the Smokies), and Allen Gap (15 trail miles north). Rock ‘n Sole Hostel in Summit Station, Pennsylvania is a charming respite along the AT in Central PA (NoBo near mile 1202, & SoBo near mile 986) bringing a few comforts of home to hikers and adventure seekers alike. We welcome you to contact us to assist you in planning your through or section hike. We are a family operation that caters to those seeking a tranquil and enjoyable trail respite. The bunkhouse is a smoke and drug free place for hikers to have a peaceful refuge and refreshing break from the trail. Currently offering a bunk house with six beds available, a 1958 vintage camper, a.k.a. “Trashy,” is also an option for 2 hikers looking to step back in time for some “glamping.” We can board a maximum of 12 hikers. Stay includes hot outdoor shower, all sleeping/bathing linens included, use of chemical privy, delicious dinner & breakfast, rides to/from the Route 183 trail head & a daily resupply run for $40 per/night. Other options include laundry ($5 load wash/dry) and mail drops (free for hostel guests). Bunkhouse is seasonally heated & AC based on weather, and has excellent Wi-Fi, DVD player with movie selections, and Bluetooth speaker for your tunes.
