Welcome to Springbrook Cottages, located in the historic town of Hot Springs, NC, surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest; where the Appalachian Trail (AT) runs through the middle of town and Spring Creek flows past our back decks, emptying into the French Broad river at the Hot Springs Spa. We are located right in town, convenient to everything Hot Springs has to offer, yet on a quiet street.
You can sit on your back deck and watch Spring Creek flow by, or fish, play in the water, have a picnic, build a campfire in our fire pits on the creek bank, sit in the gazebo and read, or watch the birds. We have cabins & camping spots for tents and RV’s within a short drive from both Asheville, NC, and the Tri-Cities areas. (Just follow I-26 towards Erwin and the rafting road signs will lead you here from exit 40.)
We share our home year-round with fellow mountain and river lovers and have been doing so for over 35 years. We are located just off the Appalachian Trail and at the “take-out” along the Nolichucky River Gorge, which surrounds us with gorgeous views at the base of Unaka Mountain.
Located on a beautiful glacial lake in the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, AMC’s Mohican Outdoor Center is an ideal retreat from the world’s cares. Stroll to nearby wetlands to spot the local wildlife, or hike the Appalachian Trail to magnificent views of the water gap. Or just splash or paddle in Catfish Pond and unwind.
Just a 90-minute drive from New York City, Mohican is a great base for exploring on your own, with your family and friends, or with a larger group. With self-service cabins, comfortable lodge bunk space, and a fully-stocked kitchen, Mohican caters to those who appreciate value accommodations and prefer to bring or cook their own meals. For a guided experience, Mohican’s weekend getaway programs offer the chance to learn a new skill and get to know other fun outdoors folk.
Our premier hostel location along the Appalachian Trail is Rutland, VT. We’ve been operating as a hostel since 2012 in that location, offering hikers rides into town and a clean, affordable place to stay and clean up. Downstairs, we also run a small casual café-style restaurant named The Yellow Deli. We also have other locations along the trail: our organic Stoneybrook Farm in Hillsboro, VA (near Harper’s Ferry, WV)
When staying at any of our hostels, we don’t ask for money, although donations are appreciated to help us carry on. But in exchange for your stay, we ask that you contribute some of your time and skills to help further our efforts. Whether it’s carpentry or mechanical skills, helping out on the farm with garden or animal chores, or simply helping us make the meal and clean up afterward. We appreciate your help in keeping us going.
If you need a greater time of recharging, we invite you to stay on for several days. Please help us out and improve the hostel so other hikers’ experience will be even better. We appreciate any time donations anyone can give. But again, it’s not an obligation or expectation — just whatever you can do.

For more than 100 years, Joe Dodge Lodge has welcomed travelers, adventure seekers, and conservation stewards to New Hampshire’s Pinkham Notch. At the base of Mount Washington, surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest, Joe Dodge Lodge is the basecamp for some of best outdoor adventures in the region.
Hike the Presidential Traverse including Mount Washington—New England’s tallest peak. Ski the East’s legendary Tuckerman Ravine and numerous backcountry trails, climb the crags and access the region’s best mountain biking trails. Located at the base of the Tuckerman Ravine and Sherburne Trails, Joe Dodge Lodge is your ultimate base camp for White Mountains adventure.
Joe Dodge Lodge offers private rooms and bunkrooms. In addition to the included meal service, Joe Dodge Lodge also offers complimentary activities, including guided day hikes to nearby scenic destinations, instructional talks on outdoor skills or natural history, and in-depth evening programs featuring films and guest speakers presenting on topics from astronomy to winter hiking. Guests should call ahead for the daily schedule during their stay.
The Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., provides a hub for trail information, weather forecasts, and outdoor resources including trail guides, maps, and USFS parking passes for purchase.
Pinkham Notch is a mountain pass in the White Mountains of north-central New Hampshire, United States. The notch is a result of extensive erosion by the Laurentide Ice Sheet during the Wisconsinian ice age.
Breakfast and dinner are included in most room packages, and lunch is available for purchase at the Black Moose Deli, a full-service deli offering hearty trail lunches and a variety of hot and cold plates.
The Catamount is very conveniently located on Route 7 in Bennington, just south of the intersection of Route 9 in a quiet neighborhood but only minutes from downtown. All of our rooms have outside entrances, dedicated parking, private bathrooms, air conditioning, individual thermostats for heating, satellite TV, WiFi, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, writing desk, telephone with free local calling and alarm clocks. All have either two double beds or 1 queen bed. Ice, soda, and bottled water available. Restaurants and grocery stores are within walking distance. Rates for all rooms range from $75, double occupancy, to $110, depending on the season.
In the heart of the Smoky Mountains surrounded by Cherokee National Forest lies Standing Bear Farm, a turn of the century multi-generational farmstead including the original homestead, barns, outbuildings and farmhouse. The outbuildings have now been converted to a bunkhouse and cabin where we offer rustic lodging to hikers and others interested in stepping back from today’s hectic lifestyle to a time in America’s past when life in rural back country Appalachia was considered the “good life”. Standing Bear Farm is three miles North of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and two hundred yards off of the Appalachian Trail. We offer lodging in our rustic bunkhouse or cabin, tent camping, authentic Tee-Pee, hot showers, laundry, free internet, phone, mail-drop, shuttle service, microwave, fire pits and gas grill. We have resupply to include items for you to grill plus condiments.White water rafting trips available on the Pigeon River, a class 3+ river. Raft in the morning and continue hiking that afternoon.

Rock ‘n Sole Hostel in Summit Station, Pennsylvania is a charming respite along the AT in Central PA (NoBo near mile 1202, & SoBo near mile 986) bringing a few comforts of home to hikers and adventure seekers alike. We welcome you to contact us to assist you in planning your through or section hike. We are a family operation that caters to those seeking a tranquil and enjoyable trail respite. The bunkhouse is a smoke and drug free place for hikers to have a peaceful refuge and refreshing break from the trail. Currently offering a bunk house with six beds available, a 1958 vintage camper, a.k.a. “Trashy,” is also an option for 2 hikers looking to step back in time for some “glamping.” We can board a maximum of 12 hikers. Stay includes hot outdoor shower, all sleeping/bathing linens included, use of chemical privy, delicious dinner & breakfast, rides to/from the Route 183 trail head & a daily resupply run for $40 per/night. Other options include laundry ($5 load wash/dry) and mail drops (free for hostel guests). The Quarter Way Inn is a delightful hiker hostel only 0.3 miles west of the Appalachian Trail at mile 556.1 in Ceres, Virginia. We offer a full resupply shop, the “Best Platinum Breakfast on the AT,” and overnight lodging for weary hikers. All of our lodging options include laundry, loaner clothes, shower (with towel, soap, shampoo, and conditioner), and morning coffee. Our hostel is in a spacious and comfortable farm house next to the most majestic sycamore tree you will ever see (obviously not pictured – that’s a redbud). We welcome thru and section hikers who are looking for a welcoming place to relax and rest up for the next leg of their journey.

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains off I-81, our hotel near Dixie Caverns offers affordable accommodations with easy access to downtown Roanoke, Roanoke College, and many scenic sights. Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is a short drive from our front doors.
The Grove Hostel is owned and operated by thru-hikers Newfound & Unfiltered, and is located in Franklin, North Carolina: AT mile 110. Franklin, NC was the very first ATC-designated Appalachian Trail Community. We are the only hostel within walking distance of downtown Franklin, where you can find a well-equipped outfitter, breweries, restaurants, and more.
Our bunks and private rooms are available by reservation only. Please text us at 828-346-7657 prior to arrival to check availability.
If thru-hiking, you can make reservations between 1-4 days prior to arrival to leave room for unanticipated delays. If you’re driving into town to section hike, you can reserve as early as you’d like.

Northwest Camp is a small, rustic cabin located on the northwest slope of Bear Mountain in Salisbury, CT. The cabin and surrounding land is owned by the Appalachian Mountain Club. Available for use year round by reservation only, NW Camp is managed and maintained entirely by volunteers. Rustic 1 ½ story log cabin, sleeping quarters upstairs, one room downstairs. Woodstove, and picnic table. Built in 1951 from chestnut trees killed by blight.

The Appalachian Trail is the longest hiking-only footpath in the world! It crosses through 14 states, from Maine to Georgia. It runs for 2,190 miles, and more than 71 of those miles run through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It takes about 7 days to hike the part of trail that runs through the National Park, but you can cut it shorter by making Clingmans Dome or Newfound Gap the midpoint. At Clingmans Dome, you’ll reach the highest point in all of Tennessee! When you hike the trail, you’ll see the beauty of the Smoky Mountains firsthand. Not only is it a great experience, but it is great exercise as well! Stay at The Appy Lodge and get a good night’s rest before embarking on your journey on the Appalachian Trail!
