Appalachian Trail Lodging in North Carolina

The Appalachian Trail in North Carolina offers a range of lodging options for hikers looking to rest and recharge as they journey through the state’s rugged mountain terrain. all in the family hiker suite hostel franlin n c.jpg

We are a hiker hostel dedicated to offering outstanding support for Trail Families of 1 to 4 hikers.

Welcome to the trail AT class of 2025! All In the Tramily is excited to host hikers as they pass through the Franklin, NC area. We’ve made several upgrades for the new year, and we are dedicated to making your stay memorable.
Here are some of the things you can expect when you stay with us.
We offer a private suite for just you and your tramily (1-4 hikers). Togetherness on the trail is fun, but sometimes you don’t want to wait for the shower or laundry, and a bunk isn’t much more comfortable than your sleeping bag. The suite has premium mattresses, private bath with shower, in suite laundry, and a private deck with view of the AT!
Getting to us is a breeze. We pick up and drop off free of charge from Rock (106) and Winding Stair (110) Gaps.
You will rack up enough “bonus miles” on the trail trekking up and down hills to water sources. We are one of the few places where you have zero bonus miles of hiking during your stay. We give free shuttles to and from the heart of Main Street (a short 5 minute drive). Because it is just you and your tramily we shuttle on your schedule. We also will shuttle to restock stores.
Tired of stale bagels for breakfast? We offer a free continental breakfast featuring healthy hiker food. And new this year we have added an espresso machine so we can make coffee, espresso shots, or lattes. You’ll down enough instant coffee on the trail. Treat yourself while you can.
If you have an AT passport, we are probably the only place on the AT that has a custom wax stamp. Pick your color and you will literally have a lasting stamp that sticks out above all the others.
If you’re soaked from a rainy hike we have a boot dryer, a tub to wash tents and hammocks, and a covered line for drying.
And of course we also have Freddie the trail dog in case you’re missing your pets, and One More always has her world famous homemade chocolate chip cookies!
Our pricing this year has remained the same. It is $135 to rent the suite for up to three people, $160 for four. That includes everything mentioned above and all taxes. No added surprises at checkout. Doing the math, it works out to $40 a person for 4, $45 a person for 3, $67.50 a person for 2, and $135 for just you.
We take cash or Venmo. Please note that we are hiker only. Text 256-479-3429 for info. We look forward to welcoming you into our tramily! Slim Jim, One More, and Freddie the Trail Dog

n 2013, Greg and Jen left the corporate world where work more, make more, spend more was the mantra, and moved to Costa Rica. They became experts on the country and each wrote Amazon best selling books on the subject of chucking it all and moving abroad. You can find Jen’s Amazon Author Page here and Greg’s Amazon Author Page here. Jen also has a successful jewelry business, which was established in Costa Rica (and since has incorporated adventure hiking jewelry!).

After 4 years of enjoying Costa Rica and a new fondness for hiking in the mountains of the Central Valley where they lived, the couple decided it was time for a new adventure. What could be better than spending 6 months living in the woods and hiking the entire Appalachian Trail?

Starting on Springer Mountain, Georgia on March 22, 2017 and ending on Mount Katahdin, Maine on September 16, 2017 their thru-hike was THE adventure of a lifetime! Along the way they became known by their trail names Chica and Sunsets, and documented their journey daily on their YouTube channel Chica and Sunsets.

Since the AT, the couple has thru-hiked the Camino de Santiago, Bartram, Colorado, Ice Age, Foothills, Art Loeb, and New England trails  (as well as the Tahoe Rim Trail and Benton MacKaye trails individually) – all documented on YouTube.

In 2020 they opened Chica & Sunsets Hostel for hikers hiking the Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail, which they ran for 5 successful years and had a blast giving back to the hiking community.
